Abstracts and presentations

Official language of the conference

The official language of the Conference will be English. However, if you do not feel comfortable presenting your research in English other languages will be accepted (spanish and portuguese), as long as the text of the slides or in the poster are in English.

Oral presentations
All oral presentations will be made in the «Salón de Actos» at the Universidad de Burgos (Facultad de Humanidades y Comunicación). Presentations will be preselected by a Conference Scientific Committee from all those submitted based on quality, thematic diversity, taxonomic diversity and representation of research groups.
Those proposals which are not included in the official oral presentation programme will be presented as posters. The maximum time for oral presentations is 15 minutes with 5 minutes set aside for questions from the audience. Submissions must arrive at the Bureau of the Conference Secretariat in an electronic format (.pdf or .ppt) in sufficient time prior to the conference.

Posters will be placed at the entrance to the main meeting hall. They will be set up with suitable supports and must be an A0 portrait size (84.4 cm x 119.2 cm).
IMPORTANT: Abstracts will only be considered if the registration fees have been received.

Abstract Instructions
Abstracts must be sent via e-mail to in MS-Word *RTF or *doc format. Please use 10 pt Arial font. Your abstract will be published in Folia Primatologica, please make sure that all the abstracts are checked by someone with an excellent level of English.
Content and format should be as follows:
1st line: Presentation title in bold letters
2nd line: complete name of the authors (e.g. Josep Call or Hannah Buchanan-Smith)
3rd line: author’s affiliations
4th line: E-mail address of first author
5th line: 5 key-words
6th line onwards: text with a maximum of 200 words (Abstracts will be published in the scientific journal Folia Primatologica).
The abstract should state the main objectives, hypotheses tested, location of study, species, sample sizes, results, and conclusions in a single paragraph. Abstracts mentioning “results will be discussed” will not be accepted.

Best student poster and best student oral presentation awards
A committee will decide, among all the posters presented by students, which is the best overall poster. The same procedure will take place for oral presentations made by students.

Important dates

In order to facilitate the organization of the conference, we propose the following deadlines:

  • Abstracts (in English) for both poster and oral presentations:
    EXTENDED UNTIL July 28th
  • Abstract’s acceptance communication given by the Scientific Committee:
    August 30th


  • October 4nd –October 7th, 2017 (from Wednesday to Saturday)
  • This format will allow people to stay over in Burgos or the surrounding area for weekend sight-seeing and social events

Support for students

The organizing commitee offers free registration for 10 students (members of the APE or APP associations). If there are more than 10 applicants, they will be selected according to whether they have a presentation, and/or scholarship grants. Those not selected for financial support will have to pay normal student fees according to their date of registration.
